How to prepare a website brief for your business in Tanzania

Define your customers, content, budget and responsibilities before commissioning a business website.

Start with a customer task

Choose the main thing a visitor should accomplish: understand a service, send a useful enquiry, explore a catalogue or place an order. Write down the information they need before taking that step. A small site can be useful when those needs are clear.

Plan English and Kiswahili content

Decide which audiences need each language. Prepare service descriptions, contact details and frequently asked questions in the languages you will maintain. Give each language its own page address and a visible switch so people can share the version they need.

Prepare your business information

Collect your approved business name, logo, public contacts, office location and service descriptions. Identify who will review the text and supply genuine project images. Use client names, testimonials and results only when you have permission and evidence.

Separate essentials from later ideas

List the pages and functions required for the first useful version. For each form, describe what information is collected, who receives it and how they respond. If ordering or payments are needed, agree the provider, onboarding requirements and responsibilities before treating the integration as ready.

Plan the full cost and ownership

Ask for development work to be separated from recurring domain, hosting, email, maintenance and third-party charges. Agree who owns the domain and source code, who controls the accounts, and what training or handover is included. A useful quote follows the agreed scope.

Check the experience on a phone

Review the site on a small screen and a realistic connection. Text should be readable, navigation usable and enquiry forms understandable. Test required fields, error messages, keyboard access and confirmation messages before launch.

Agree how to judge the result

Before launch, agree which visitor journeys must work and which measures matter, such as relevant enquiries. After launch, use Search Console to check discovery and search activity. Search rankings take time and cannot be promised. Keep contact details and service information current.
